Brinkman -- Charles (Lefty) Brinkman, renowned skiing and skating celebrity. A Memorial will be held at Sandia Peak Ski Base Lodge, Sunday, March 9, 2003, 4:00 p.m. Charles (Lefty) Brinkman, a legend in winter sports, died on December 21, 2002 of Cancer in McCall, Idaho. He and his wife, Maxine, made their home in Albuquerque for many years until the spring of 2000 when they moved to Idaho to assist with construction of an ice rink and develop a winter sports program. Lefty taught skiing at Sandia Peak and was an instructor with the Rough Riders Ski program. For many years, he was a director of the Aspen Ski School. He established the Aspen Tennis Club, and assisted with the development of Snowmass Ski Mountain. Lefty was a 1948 Olympic silver medalists in men's singles ice skating. Over the years, he won numerous medals and awards in singles, pairs and dance ice skating competitions. All his friends and associates are invited to join the Memorial.
