Saavedra -- Mr. Gilbert L. Saavedra died Monday, March 24, 2003 in Albuquerque at the age of 74. Mr. Saavedra was a U.S. Army Veteran. He is preceded in death by his wife, Theresa Saavedra and son, Luciano Saavedra. Mr. Saavedra is survived by his children, Frances Sanchez and husband, Cris, Gilbert Saavedra, Raymond Saavedra, Theresa Becerra, Bernie Loranca and Chris Saavedra; brother, Isidro Saavedra; sister, Flora Sanchez; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Funeral Services for Mr. Saavedra will be held on Friday at San Jose Catholic Church where the Service will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Johnny Ray Saavedra, Chano Saavedra, Ross Narvaiz, Max Jaramillo, Bernie Loranca and Danny Apodaca. A Rosary for Mr. Saavedra will be recited on Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m. at Salazar & Sons Mortuary, 400 Third St. SW.
