Aragon -- Francisco"Tony" Aragon, 77, a resident of Valencia, NM passed away on Tuesday, April 1, 2003. He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Peralta, NM. He was also a life member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart, DAV and VFW. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII and was wounded in the invasion of Normandy. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart Combat Infantry Badge, Bronze Star, numerous campaign metals, and brought home many distinguished honors. While he was in the service, he sent money home every month to his parents that used the money, to buy farmland. When he returned home he began working on his father's farm, and at the same time, began developing his own land. He was a well-known Valencia County farmer for many years. Tony was preceded in death by his parents, Rafael and Josefita, one brother, Jime. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Frances of the family home in Valencia; his son, Arthur of the family home; two brothers, Joe M. Aragon and his wife, Erlinda; and Espiridion Aragon all of Valencia; four sisters, Pablita; Emilia; Virginia; and Eufemia Aragon all of Valencia; his three sister-in-laws, Flora Chavez and her husband, Peter of Albuquerque, NM; Josie Espinosa of Albuquerque; and Adelina Espinosa of Belen. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. A viewing will be held on Friday, April 4, 2003 at Romero Funeral Home from 5:30 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. followed by a rosary at 6:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, April 5, 2003 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church at 9:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Belen Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Delfin Aragon; Tony Lyon; Daniel Aragon; Lawrence Espinosa; Jimmy Griego; and Gene Espinosa. Romero Funeral Home 609 N. Main St. Belen 87002.
