Saiz -- Adelina P. Saiz, 98, a resident of Belen, NM, and formerly of Quemado, NM. Born on February 15, 1905, passed away on Saturday, May 17, 2003. She was a member of Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church. Adelina was an amateur archeologist most of her life digging for old pottery and arrowheads. Many times she would strike out on her own to go dig in remote locations. She would get so involved with her diggings that once when she finally looked up, she was surrounded by a heard of cows. In her younger days, she worked in a Saw Mill in McNavy, AZ and later she was manager of two restaurants at the same time in Quemado. Adelina never had children, but her nieces, nephews and friends were her extended family whom she loved dearly. She was preceded in death by her husband, Manuel Saiz in 1972; her parents, Celestino and Manuelita Padilla; her two brothers, Hilario in 1965 and Adelido in 1991; and her two sisters, Nicholasa Padilla in 1963 and Luciana Rael in 1985. She is survived by her two sisters, Flora Serna and Maggie Castillo, both of Los Chavez, NM and one brother, Henry Padilla and his wife, Siprianita of Belen. She is also survived by her many loving nieces and nephews. A viewing will be held on Monday, May 19, 2003 at Romero Funeral Home at 5:30 PM followed by a rosary at 6:00 PM. A Funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 20, 2003 at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Belen Memorial Gardens. Romero Funeral Home 609 N.
