Jenkins -- Laura Jenkins, who recently relocated from Rio Rancho to Durango, CO, died at Four Corners Health Center on Friday, may 16, 2003, following a stroke. Mrs. Jenkins was born Margaret Laurene Oglesby on July 31, 1916 in Lynnville, KY. She married John R. Jenkins in 1939, and with him raised three daughters near Detroit, MI. She relocated to Albuquerque in the late 1980?s. She was a lifelong volunteer in numerous community and social service organizations, such as Keep America Beautiful and the cancer treatment program at the Veterans Administration Hospital. Her name was recently added to the Wall of Tolerance by the Southern Poverty Law Center. She was active in environmental causes, most recently being involved in Hawkwatch, and in planting trees in the Bosque del Apache. Laura is survived by her husband John Jenkins, her sister Helen Phillips, three daughters, Jen Dorman, Sharon Clayton, and Brook Elizabeth Jenkins, nine grandchildren, and seventeen great-grandchildren. Services will be held Tuesday, May 20, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. in the Gate of Heaven Mausoleum Chapel, 7500 Paseo Del Norte NE. French Mortuary 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE 823-9400
