Luna -- Mr. Mateo Luna, 82, a resident of Albuquerque passed away on July 7, 2003. Mr. Luna is survived by four daughters, Yolanda Chavez and husband, Mel, Viola Padilla and husband, Robert, Diane Luna and Aurora Luna; one son, Partick Luna and wife, Rose; three sisters, Delfa Luna, Canda Chavez and husband, Bobby, Molly Padilla and husband, Eddie; one brother, Gabe Luna; seven grandchildren, Carol, Rosie, Mike, Joyce, Melanie, Milo and Becky; ten great- grandchildren, Adrian, Samantha, Desiree, Shantell, Johnny, Veronica, Patrick, Kiana, Esperanza and Melachi; and many Godchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mr. Luna was preceded in death by his wife, Rosa M. Luna, his son, Richardo Luna; and his grandson, Mel Chavez Jr. Mr. Luna was a member of the Catholic Church and a Veteran of the U.S. Army serving during WWII. Mr. Luna was a very active member of Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church. He was an usher for the 8:30 a.m. Mass and was also active with the Art & Environment Committee, He was an active member of the Los Volcanos Senior Center where he spent most of his time playing pool and dancing. He was a member of the American Legion, Post 99. He was very proud to be a WWII Veteran. He based his life on many qualities and valued loyalty, daily respect, selfless service, honor, integrity, personal courage. He was always ready to lend a helping hand. He was a true example of what a good man was. He loved everyone and everyone loved him. (Don't forget that.) Visitation will be Thursday evening from 6:30 p.m. until 7:00pm at St. Joseph on the Rio Grande Catholic Church, 5901 St. Joseph Pl. NW with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. by Gabriella Nieto. Final visitation will be Friday morning from 10:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 5414 Fortuna NW with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. by Father Joel Garner. Committal Service will follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 1:30 p.m. Pallbearers will be Mike Chavez, Mel Chavez, Patrick Luna, Robert Padilla, Milo Sanchez, and Dennis Williams.
