Thomas -- Lt. Col. James Edwin (Ed) Thomas, US Army, Retired, 63, passed away on Friday, August 8, 2003. He is survived by his son, Marc Thomas and wife, Michelle; daughter, Leigh Martinez and husband, Thomas; three grandchildren, Kyle, Jared, and Isabella. Ed was born on March 25, 1940 in Boston, MA. A resident of Albuquerque since 1978, he retired recently, and enjoyed spending his time riding his motorcycle, gardening, and enjoying time with friends and family. After graduating with an Engineering Degree from Northeastern University, Ed spent his career in service to his country, first in the Army, and later with contractors working for the Department of Energy. Along the way, he earned his Masters Degree from the University of North Dakota. Ed was much loved, and will be missed greatly by all who knew him. Services will be held Friday, August 15, 2003, 2:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel. Friends may visit French Mortuary, Thursday, August 14, 2003, 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Cremation will follow services and burial of cremains will take place at Santa Fe National Cemetery, Santa Fe, New Mexico.
