Blankenship -- Ira Lee"Pete" Blankenship, Sr., passed away on July 31, 2003 after a lengthy illness. Pete was born April 12, 1928, in Seymour, TX. He is preceded in death by his parents, James Dee and Claudia Blankenship and brother, D.L. Blankenship. Survivors include wife, Priscilla; sons, Ira Lee Blankenship II of Albany, OR and James Griego of Albuquerque, NM; brothers, Glynn Blankenship of Kemp TX, Bill Blankenship of Haskell, TX, and Jim Blankenship of Gainesville, TX. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Amy Lynn and Ira Lee Blankenship III, and Lynda, Luceya and James Griego, Jr. Pete was a World War II Navy veteran, a ham radio operator and a volunteer at the local VA Hospital. A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, August 6, 2003 at 7:00 p.m. at First Spanish Fruit Avenue Baptist Church, 812 Fruit NW, with Dr. Bernie A. Moraga officiating.
