Timms -- Jesse B. Jesse B. Timms, 79, of Lake Ft. Sumner passed away on March 6, 2003, at the VA Medical Center in Albuquerque. Jesse was born on July 27, 1923, in Winters, Texas, to James Leroy and Susan Lois (Condra) Timms. Jesse moved to the Lake Ft. Sumner area 12 years ago, but had lived in Moriarty for 26 years prior. He was a finish blademan in road construction before his retirement. At one time he owned and operated Timms Construction. Jesse was elected twice as a County Commissioner in Torrance County, serving between 1978 and 1981. He was elected Citizen of the Year in 1986. Jesse was a Charter member of the VFW Post # 3370 in Moriarty and a Lifetime member of the American Legion Post also in Moriarty. He was also a member of the Moriarty Lions Club. Jesse is survived by his wife, Lillian Timms of Lake Ft. Sumner, a son, Jesse Wayne Timms of Moriarty Also survived by two Daughters, Sherry Dennison of Moriarty and Nita Sanchez of Los Lunas. Also leaves behind four brothers, Alvin Timms, Travis Timms, Ray Timms and Billy Timms all of Lubbock, Texas. Also surviving him are eight sisters, Nita Condra of Lubbock, Frances Long of Oklahoma, Cletta Abney of Lubbock, Dolly Bullard of Lubbock, Pearl Shelton of Lubbock , Nancy Coppedge of Lubbock and Rita Thompson of Amarillo. Jesse also leaves 15 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. Visitation for Jesse will be from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday March 9, 2003, at Harris-Hanlon Mortuary in Moriarty. Funeral Services will be at 10:00 AM on Monday, March 10, 2003, at The First Baptist Church in Moriarty with Rev. Kenny officiating. Burial will follow at 1:30 p.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery with the VFW Post #3370 officiating and providing Full Military Honors. Pallbearers for Jesse will be, Steve Dennison, John Sanchez, Shawn Fowler, Robert Griego, Jason Cooley, Mike Pederson, Berle Timms, Larry Timms, Jeff Kotchswar, Jeremy Eatherton and Terry Eatherton. Honorary Pallbearers for Jesse will be, Ray Crabb, Jim Miller, Jim Elliot, Jess Doty, Scott Dennison, Joe Sanchez and Ed McClendon.
