Gongora -- Marie Luciana Gongora passed away April 7, 2003. Marie was born April 19, 1930 in Logan, NM. She was preceded in death by her parents; and four brothers; and two sisters. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Hector Gongora; daughters, Carol Lauer and husband, Steve; Elizabeth Schlessinger; son, Steve Gongora and wife, Rita; grandchildren, Christopher and Mathew Lauer; Jacob and Jaqueline Schlessinger; Emily and Bernadette Gongora; brother, Gilbert Fuentes and wife, Floy; sister, Eva Hazen and husband, Robin; sister-in-law, Belia Peterson and husband, Bob; and many nieces and nephews. She was a very supportive wife throughout Hector's military career. They lived in France, Germany, and several U.S. bases and made many friends wherever they settled. She was an officer's wife and an elegant hostess. Her faith was her strength. It carried through many hardships. Even with her many illnesses, her strong spirit sustained her. She was an inspiration for everyone she encountered. She always had a smile on her face, no matter what. Her family was the centerpiece of her life. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Her sweet smile will be missed by all who knew her. She is an angel looking down on the people she loved. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m., Friday, April 11, 2003 in the chapel of Fitzgerald & Son Funeral Directors. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 12, 2003 at The Church of The Risen Savior 7701 Wyoming Blvd. NE with Fr. McGowen, Celebrant.
