Grubbs -- Joyce A. Grubbs, 77, a resident of Rio Rancho for the past 14 years, and before that had lived in Albuquerque, passed away on Tuesday, April 8, 2003. Joyce was born May 2, 1925 the daughter of John and Dora Scoggins Atwood in Mangum, Oklahoma. She loved gardening and reading. Joyce loved her family, and keeping the"old man" in line. Joyce is survived by her husband, Quinten Grubbs of the family home; five children, Susan Swann of California, Michael Kearney of California, Quintena Sowders of Rio Rancho, Douglas Grubbs and wife, Maribeth of Albuquerque, and Larry Grubbs and wife, Carol of Rathdrum, ID; one sister, Catherine White of California; one brother, John Atwood of Tucumcari, NM; three grandchildren, Katie, Marianda, and Tyler. She will be greatly missed by numerous friends and relatives. The Visitation will be on Thursday, April 10, 2003 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Vista Verde Mortuary, Sara Rd. at Meadowlark Ln., Rio Rancho. The Service will be held on Friday, April 11, 2003 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Vista Verde Mortuary with Chaplain Larry Wills officiating. Interment will follow in Vista Verde Memorial Park.
