CHAVEZ -- Dulcinea Chavez, born June 12,1927 has gone home with Lord in the loving arms of her family, after a short battle with scleroderma, on Tuesday September 2, 2003. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 48 years, Martin S. Chavez; parents, Nicholas and Bartolita Alderete; brother, Luis Alderete; sister, Placida Saavedra; and son-in-law, Ray Gonzales. She is survived by four sons, Alejandro (Bebe) Chavez and wife, Monica, Johnny Chavez and wife, Tam, Eric Chavez and wife, Angelica, and Alejandro (Critter) Chavez; four daughters, Rosalia (Lea) Gomez, Elijia Robinson and husband, Robbie, Martha Salazar and husband, Fred, Jackie Chavez and husband, Dennis. She leaves behind 15 grandchildren; six great- grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild whom she loved and adored. She is also survived by one sister, Angelita Mora; six brothers-in-law; five sisters-in-law; and numerous nephews and nieces. Dulce has also left behind a very special nephew and niece, Johnny and Teresa Tapia; and her niece, Annie Gutierrez. Dulce will be missed tremendously. She was the #1 fan of Johnnie Tapia and a dedicated fan of the SVLL and Rio Grande Raven Baseball Teams. The lack of her presence will be felt on the stands. Services will be held Santuario de San Martin, 8321 Camino San Martin SW. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday evening, September 4, 2003. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, September 5, 2003 11 :00 a.m. Burial will follow immediately after services at San Jose de Armijo Cemetery at Coors and Arenal SW. Pallbearers will be Carlos Chavez, Jose Chavez, Ruben Chavez, Andrei Gomez, Gary Gomez, Raymond Mendez, Nick Saavedra, Slick Salazar and Johnny Tapia. Honorary pallbearers will be Chris Anaya, Mario Chavez, Anthony Garcia, Orlando Griego, Anthony Gutierrez, Robert Gutierrez, Jorge Hernandez, Eddie Martinez, Anthony Mendez, CJ Parraz, James Saiz, Mike Sandoval, Alex Serna, and Alex Zavala.
