VALDEZ -- Virginia (Gini) L. Valdez, 69, a resident of Albuquerque for 50 years, died Tuesday, September 2, 2003. She is survived by her son, Joe Valdez and wife, Lisa of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Andre and Diego; six sisters, Elizabeth Cordova, Lydia Gutierrez and husband, Fred; Mary Louise Molina, Theresa Baca, all of Albuquerque, Olivia Pohl and husband, Al of Denver, CO; two brothers, Joseph Valdez and wife, Frances, Ernest Valdez and wife, Doreena, all of Albuquerque; sister-in-law, Margaret Valdez of Albuquerque; and numerous nephews, nieces and other relatives and friends. Gini is preceded in death by her parents, brother Leroy Valdez and sister, Jeny Gallegos. Ms. Valdez served in the United States Air Force, 1957 through 1960, as an Airman Second Class and then worked as a Civil Service Security Specialist. Gini was a longtime parishoner at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. She enjoyed dancing, music, her soap operas and pets. Gini was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Rosary will be held Friday, 7:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel. Mass will be held Saturday, 9:30 a.m., at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 1818 Coal Place SE. Pallbearers will be Joe Valdez, Brad Valdez, Chad Valdez, Mark Valdez, Ernest Valdez and Joe Valdez, Jr. Cremation and interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, at a later date.
