ELDRIDGE, FLORENCE G. Florence G. Eldridge, 94, mother, grandmother, cook, baker, gardener, seamstress, and quilter, passed away on March 1, 2015. Florence was best known for being a cook and baker. She was the cafeteria manager at Alameda Elementary School for more than 30 years. Hundreds of Alameda children went through her cafeteria and she knew most of them by name. She always managed to see that each and every one of them was fed, regardless of the circumstances. Many were volunteers in her kitchen, who helped serve meals, and the others, she greeted as they ate. In her last years, Florence resided in Algodones, NM, with her faithful dog, Jinny. She is survived by her four children, Jackie Adelmann and Rick Eldridge, of Bernalillo, NM, Sharon Lyons, of Mesquite, NV, and Douglas Eldridge, of Algodones, NM; their respective spouses, and a half-brother, Armando Serapio Sosa, of Sunland Park, NM. Florence also had 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Garth; her sisters, Lucy, Frances, Annie and Ruby, and her brother, Freddie. A Graveside Service will be held Monday, March 9, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE, in Albuquerque. Deacon Manuel Montoya will speak to commemorate Florence's Catholic and Spanish heritage. In lieu of flowers, please contribute to one of our fine Albuquerque charities that support children's interests. Special thanks must go to the staff of Life Spire in Rio Rancho and to Ambercare Hospice. Florence knew each and every one of them as "Honey."
