THOMPSON, JANE CELESTE WEILLER GINS (1927-2015) Following a long & active life, Jane passed from this world on March 1, 2015, at the young age of 88. Born and raised in Albuquerque, Jane is one of few people who have lived their entire lives within a mile of where they were born. A 1945, graduate of Albuquerque High School, she was acquainted with most of the residents of our beautiful city. Her geographical radius may have been small in scope, but her interests were not as limited. Jane was a faithful daughter, dedicated mother and grandmother, respected civic leader and friend to many. Her children and extended family already miss her love, support, acceptance, and encouragement. She was truly an elegant lady who attracted attention with her passion for people and life. As she strove for excellence in all that she attempted, she expected the same from those around her. This led to her becoming president of virtually every organization she joined including Hadassah, the Temple Albert Sisterhood, and the WGA at her beloved Albuquerque Country Club among others. Jane loved golf, bridge, mahjongg, building and maintaining lifelong friendships and family relationships. She had a heart big enough to draw newcomers into established relationships and community. Jane was preceded in death by her husband, Myron (Buddy) Gins, infant granddaughter, Jacqueline Gins, and her dear friend/partner in crime, Lore White. She is survived by her loving husband of 38 years, Robert Thompson; sons Joshua Gins and wife, Maggie; Richard Gins; Rand Gins and wife, Ginny; daughter, Nancy Bain and husband, Jon; and daughter-in-law, Valerie Berg; stepsons Michael Thompson and wife, Kaye; Fred Thompson and wife, Karen; and stepdaughter Judy (Grinny) Walton and husband, David; her incredible grandchildren who were featured as she drove around town proudly sporting the "NANA12" license plate; three great-grandchildren; special cousin/sister, Celeste Mandel; and numerous dear friends and extended family. A celebration of Jane's life will be held Friday, March 6, 2015, 2:00 PM, at Congregation Albert 3800 Louisiana Blvd., NE Albuquerque, NM.
