MOSIMANN, JULIA Julia Thea Mosimann, age 70, passed away on Wednesday, February 11, 2015. Julia was born August 21, 1944 in Las Vegas, NM to Harry Adolf Mosimann and Lenora Hope Sundt. She grew up on the family ranch at the head of the Sapello Canyon in the Sangre De Cristo Mountains. Her education was through the Las Vegas school. After her graduation from Robertson High School, she went to nursing school in Dallas, TX, graduating from Methodist Hospital School of Nursing in 1964. She pursued her chosen field of operating room nursing in Phoenix, AZ and Albuquerque, NM. In January 1976, she suffered a brain stem injury while receiving a chiropractic manipulation which resulted in quadriplegia. She continued her education, graduating in 1995 from Children's Institute of Literature of West Redding, CT. She was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Los Chavez, in Belen, NM. The quadriplegia only affected her ability to move but over the years she regained full use of her right arm and hand and right foot and partial use of her right leg. Despite her many challenges, she was a very happy, joyful and thankful person with a positive outlook and an inspiration to many. Julia enjoyed cooking and baking despite her disability. She was the Sunshine Chairman for the Sundt family and many friends and family receive her cards, letters and phone calls. Her greatest joy over the last few years was being a very active member in her new city of Rio Communities. She was very active and attended all meetings over the last few years until becoming ill the last few months. She received an award for Outstanding Citizen for 2013 and 2014 for all her active work in the new community. She was also a member for RCA. Julia is survived by three brothers, Henry (Marge) Mosimann of Farmington, NM, Moe (Kittye) Mosimann of Raton, NM, Martin (Beckie) Mosimann of Wagon Mound, NM; daughters, Aleathea Modlin of Brainerd, NM and Michelle Jakelwicz of El Paso, TX; five grandchildren, Krystal Jakelwicz, Justin White, Jacob White, Thea Modlin and CoraJane Modlin; one great-granddaughter, Kylie White; and numerous loving nieces and nephews. Services will be held at First Baptist Church of Los Chavez on Tuesday, February 17, 2015 beginning with a visitation at 10:00 AM, followed by the service at 11:00 with Brother Boyd Morerod officiating. A reception will follow. Please join us in celebrating the life of Julia Mosimann.
