POTTER-MARTH, MARGARETE JULIANNA Age 87, a resident of Albuquerque since 1968, died Saturday, January 17, 2015. She is survived by her children, Caroline B.M. Condit, Clarence E. Condit Jr. and wife, Arlene, Priscilla K.E. Sanders and husband, Lonnie Essres, and Belinda J. DeVargas; ten grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; four step-children, Fred Potter, Cindy Potter, Diane Condit and Janet Condit; sisters, Gertrude Hertz and Giesla Puttler; brother, Heiner Puttler; and many other relatives and friends. Margarete was preceded in death by her husbands, Clarence E. Condit Sr., John L. Potter, and Albert F. Marth; brother, Peter Puttler; and sister, Ann Hutchinson. She was born in 1927 in Vienna, Austria and skated as a professional in the ice capades. She emigrated to the United States at the age of 19 and was one of the first four war brides that had all the legal paperwork required to marry and become a US citizen. Margarete entered the US through the gates of Ellis Island. She followed the careers of her husbands in the United States and abroad. She was a long-time volunteer for the American Red Cross and an active member of the Edelweiss Club in Albuquerque. Margarete was a great cook and wonderful baker. She was a very caring mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Graveside service will be held on Monday, February 2, 2015 at 2:15 p.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
