SHAW, VERONICA LYNN Mrs. Veronica Lynn Shaw of Albuquerque, passed away quietly at 2:28 on 19 November at the University of New Mexico hospital. Her husband of 37 years, Brian Andrew Shaw, and children Jacob Christopher, Jessica Marie, and Adrianne Nicole were at her side. Born on Aug 28 1961, she passed to eternal light at age 53, just short of her favorite holidays Thanksgiving and Christmas. She was a gifted professional baker (and artisan of treats!). Her incredible work ethic was only surpassed by an unbounded love of her family. Mrs. Shaw was a passionate people person who at 4'11 was able to strike up conversations with anyone, often complementing complete strangers on their unique dress or tattoos. Her passions included entertaining, concern for the sick, and serving at the Albuquerque Balloon Festival - for 16 straight years - where she was affectionately known as "The Light Lady" taking care of grounds preparation and safety lights. Her hunger for justice and fairness will live on by those that loved her and worked beside her. In addition to her husband and children she is survived by grandsons Isaiah, 7, Angelo, 14, and Angel 15; her parents Ramon Sr. and Marcella Baca; siblings and their spouses, Ramon Baca Jr and Dixie , Suzanne and Joseph DeLao, and Christopher and Carla Baca. She was beloved by her brother and sister-in-law, Daniel and Felicity Shaw as well as by her husband's sisters and husbands: Kathleen Blakely; Rebecca and Sean Kenny; and Amanda and Morgan Whitehouse. She was also the proud aunt of over two dozen nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank the University of New Mexico Hospital physicians, nurses, and staff for their l during the 4 days of unexpected treatment preceding her passing. In lieu of flowers the family asks for donations to the Wounded Warrior Project. Details for a celebration of life are pending and will be shared by the family when finalized.
