GURULE, SOPHIA age 97, was born on September 16, 1917 in Belen, NM and passed away on Thursday, October 23, 2014 in Albuquerque, NM. Sophia resided at the Rehabilitation Center of Albuquerque, where she passed away peacefully. Sophia was very dedicated to her church of Our Lady of the Assumption, where she was a long time active member of the Legion of Mary and was also involved with Padre Pios prayer group, as well devoted her time to Eucharistic Ministry for the shut-ins. Sophia was preceded in death by her loving husband Bruno Gurule. She is survived by her beloved son, Joe Gurule; daughter-in-law, Melissa Krasser; granddaughters, Anita Duran and Jovanna Gurule and her husband Tyson Carpenter "her Tyson"; great-grandchildren, Nick and Jade Duran; daughter-in-law, Bonnie Gurule; as well as many other family members and friends who loved and will miss her. Services will be held at Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church, 811 Guaymas Pl. NE. (Lomas and Tennessee) on Monday, November, 3, 2014. Viewing will begin at 10:00am. A Rosary will be recited at 10:30am. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:00am. Burial will follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery in Santa Fe at 3:00pm. Pallbearers will be Tyson Carpenter, Nicholas Duran, Gilbert Aragon, Marvin Watson, John Gallegos, Chris Gallegos and Bryan Sanchez.
