FRICKEY, JAMES "JIM" GLENN born on June 14, 1967, beloved Father, friend and firefighter passed away on Friday, September 26, 2014 into the arms of Our Lord. Jim loved the mountains, camping, horses, being free in Mother Nature's surroundings and his beloved daughter, Ashley, the light of his life. Jim had lived in the North Valley, Ohio, Georgia, Panama, Taos and made his final home in Los Lunas. He was preceded in death by his loving Grandmother Betty Gastian, Grandfather James E. Gastian and uncle, Jim Gastian. He is survived by his daughter Ashley Phoenix Frickey; his mother, Sue Frickey Johnson and stepfather, Neal; aunts and uncles Lori and Jerry Whitener, Becky and Mark Loviza, Larry and Katherine Gastian, Barbara Gastian and Willard Eastman; stepbrothers, Kurt and Eric Johnson; cousins, Kevin Dolby, James Whitener, Loren Gastian, Elizabeth Eastman and Chance Gastian; nieces, Aria Johnson and Marli Johnson; nephew, Lucian Johnson as well as an extended circle of friends, family and firefighters. Jim was a graduate of the Tucumcari Ferrier Program and the Fire Academy. Jim was a Firefighter at heart, a Ferrier by trade and a friend to many. A graduate of Highland H.S., Jim had been employed by the U.S. Forest Service, Fire Quenchers and Bernalillo County Fire Dept. and a Volunteer Firefighter/EMT in Valencia County for many years. He received numerous awards and recognition, especially proud of NASA's certificate of when he helped locate parts from the Space Shuttle in Texas. He had deployed his Fire Shelter during the numerous times he fought wildfires with the USFS. A celebration of his life will be held Saturday, October 18, 2014 from 4:00pm to 6:00pm at the Los Ranchos Agri-Nature Center located at 4920 Rio Grande Blvd. NW. Memorial will be held Sunday, October 19, 2014 at 5:00pm at the Valencia-El Cerro Fire Station No.3 160 El Cerro Loop in Los Lunas by his Fellow Volunteer Firefighters of Valencia County. In lieu of flowers, donations will be accepted in Jim's name at Valencia-El Cerro Fire Station, 160 El Cerro Loop, Los Lunas, NM. 87031.
