HOULIHAN, CARMEN R. Rosary services for Mrs. Carmen R. Houlihan will be held on Saturday, October 11, at 10:00 AM from St. Rose of Lima Church. Mass of Christian Burial will follow the rosary with Father Thomas Kayammakal officiating. Burial will follow at the St. Joseph Cemetery. Carmen passed away unexpectedly on October 8, at the Guadalupe County Hospital. Carmen was born on July 7, 1935 in Colonias, NM to the home of Manuel and Ignacita (Ulibarri) Romero. She was reared and attended schools in Colonias and Santa Rosa graduating from Santa Rosa High School in 1953. She married David Houlihan at St. Rose of Lima Church on February 12, 1971. Carmen worked at the City Drug, the First National Bank and with Magistrate Judge Aresenio Sanchez. She and her family moved to Tucumcari in 1984 where she worked as a receptionist for Dr. McCasland. In 1995 David and Carmen came back to Santa Rosa and became a full time home maker. Carmen was a faithful member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. She was active in the Altar Society and Las Hijas de Maria. She loved spending time with her family especially her grandkids. She also loved being involved with the Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, her infant son David A. Houlihan, sister Herlinda Valverde and her brother Eddie Romero. Survivors include her husband David of the family home in Santa Rosa; her sons Patrick Houlihan and wife Erin of Albuquerque, Philip Houlihan and wife Belinda of Amarillo, TX; her grandchildren Hannah, Sophia, Isaac, Maggie, Paul and Luke. Also surviving are her brothers and sisters, Gilbert Romero and wife Agnes of Santa Rosa, Anita Anaya of Albuquerque, Richard Romero and wife Nina of Albuquerque, Barbara Padilla and husband Larry of Albuquerque; and her mother-in-law Pauline Johnson; along with numerous nieces, nephews and a host of relatives and friends.
