BRIGGS, NANCY GAY ROBB passed away in Albuquerque on August 30, 2014 due to complications of a stroke. She was born in New Rochelle, NY, but moved to Albuquerque as an adolescent with her parents, Dean John Donald Robb I and Harriet Block Robb and older siblings Priscilla and Johnny, with whom she shared a love of New Mexican cultural and musical landscapes. After graduating from Smith College, she married William Christie Briggs in 1950. She was active in such organizations as the League of Women's Voters and the Pan American League. Nancy served as a docent of the Albuquerque Museum, the University of New Mexico Art Museum, and the Maxwell Museum and was active in many arts and cultural organizations in Albuquerque and Santa Fe. She loved classical music, art, and nature and was an avid tennis player and superb skier and one of the most ubiquitous figures on the New Mexican arts scene. A deeply spiritual person, Nancy participated actively in the Center for Action and Contemplation, and she supported movements for peace and justice. She is survived by her sister Priscilla McDonnell of St. Louis; son Chris and wife Pat Briggs and their children Matt, wife Tova, and daughter Rachel; son Charles and wife Clara Mantini-Briggs and their sons Gabi and Gabriel. A memorial Mass will held at 3:00PM on Sunday, September 28, 2014 at the Newman Center, 1815 Las Lomas Road, NE.
