LUJAN, ERNEST GILBERT Our beloved husband, father and grandfather, Ernest Gilbert Lujan, 72, passed away on September 15, 2014 with his wife and children at his side. He was born on December 8, 1941 to Ernest J. Lujan and Rita Gilbert Lujan and raised in Belen. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Stella Armijo Lujan; his daughter Elicia Lujan, her husband David Sowar and their son Logan; and his son Luke Lujan, his wife Stacey Smith and their children Aiden and Alexis. He is also survived by sister Juliette Duran and her husband Leroy; brother Robert Lujan and his wife Sandy; sisters-in-law and their husbands Alvie and Tommy Torres and Michelle and Paul Lucero; and several nieces and nephews. Ernie was a graduate of the UNM College of Pharmacy, Class of '67. He worked in retail pharmacy for 30 years, mainly at the Eastdale location of a national chain. Ernie was the kind of guy who could fix anything or at least give it a good old college try. After his retirement, he became the family handyman. Ernie is also survived by his best friend Oswald (Oz) Baca and his wife Mary Ann. Oz was always available to help on any project or engage in any good argument (politics and religion excluded by mutual agreement). In addition to "fixing things," Ernie loved traveling. We were fortunate to have the opportunity to visit some of the most beautiful cities and beaches on four continents. But the greatest joy of Ernie's life was his family. His children were perfect and his grandchildren exceptional. He was good-hearted, loving and devoted and we will love and miss him forever. Thank you to our neighbor Shannon Lehman for caring and helping. Also, thank you to Dr. Carol Merovka and her staff at Hospice of the Sandias and the staff of Retreat at Home, especially Linda Griffin and Troy Fragua, for their compassionate care of Ernie. Mass will be celebrated Thursday, September 25, 2014, 8:30 a.m., at Our Lady of Annunciation Catholic Church, 2621 Vermont NE. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider donations to JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation), 6100 Indian School NE, Suite 110, Albuquerque, NM 87110.
