LUJAN, DAVID E. 1919-2014 David E. Lujan, age 94, a resident of Albuquerque, NM went on to Glory on Tuesday, September 9, 2014. David was born in Weston, Colorado on December 29, 1919. During his youth his family moved to Fountain, Colorado. In 1942 David joined the United States Army Air Force where he was trained in office machine repair. After serving his country, he returned to Fountain where he met his bride to be Sophie Lujan. They married on September 25, 1948 and shortly thereafter moved to Albuquerque, NM where they started their family. David worked at a couple of local shops before being hired at Sandia Base as an office machine repairman. In 1958 he moved his family to Belen, NM where he became known as the Typewriter Man. After retiring from the base in 1974 he continued Lujan's Typewriter Repair, as well as the gardening he had become well known for, and got serious about fishing. He became a Deacon at The First Baptist Church where he served as a Spanish Interpreter. He made 20 trips in 10 years to South and Central America with the Baptist convention as an interpreter. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 63 years, Sophia Lujan; his parents, Nicanor and Perfilia Gonzales Lujan; sisters, Ernestine Duran and Margaret Hyche. David is survived by his children, Nick Lujan and wife, Christel, Liz Lujan, Jim Lujan and wife, Mary; grandchildren, Davey Lujan, Jenn Fouts and husband, Seth and Jared Lujan and wife, Tiarra; and great-grandchild, Aiden Fouts. Services will be held at the First Baptist Church of Los Chavez, 09 Los Chavez Park Rd. on Monday, September 15th beginning with a Viewing at 10:00 a.m. with a Funeral Service to be held at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Boyd Morerod officiating.
