HUNTER, JOANN Age 82, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on Friday, August 15, 2014. Jo Ann was born in Mosquero, NM to Jane and Marvin Drake on February 25, 1932. She grew up and lived in Mosquero until she moved to Albuquerque to attend UNM. While at UNM she was a proud Lobo, majoring in Business and joining the Alpha Chi Omega sorority. During her time at the University she made many life-long friends and throughout the years she shared many stories of all the fun and special friends in her life. She graduated in 1953 and was married soon after to Weldon Hunter at Central United Methodist Church where they have been long- time members. In 1959, together they established Hunter Lumber Corporation. Jo Ann had an adventurous spirit and never backed away from a challenge. She enjoyed camping and water skiing with her family. She took up snow skiing and found a love for the game of tennis. Jo Ann was a spirited member of the tennis community, competing in local tournaments as well as the Senior Olympics. She enjoyed travel, art, and always seemed to find a new challenge. She went to real estate school, took swimming lessons, and learned to speak Spanish. She was a loving mother, and a beloved grandmother to seven grandchildren. Jo Ann was a fun loving spirt and will be greatly missed by all that knew her. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Weldon Hunter. She is survived by her daughter, Pamela (Mike) Berg; son, Mike Hunter; daughter, Susan Hunter-Miller; grandchildren, Jennifer (Curtis) Edenfield, Justin (Kate) and Jessica Berg, Mitch and Matson Hunter, Kaitlyn Hunter, and Gavin Miller; sister, Donna Walker; nieces, Tracie Campbell, Jan Maxwell, and Kim Wallace; and nephews, Tyme and Ken Hunter. The family would like to thank Home Instead and The Woodmark at Uptown for the wonderful care in the last few years. A special thanks to Presbyterian Hospice. Visitation will be Thursday, August 21, 2014, at FRENCH - University, from 3:00 to 5:00 P.M. Funeral Services will be Friday, August 22, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at Central United Methodist Church, 201 University Blvd. N.E. Interment will take place at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul N.E.
