ROMERO, CLORINDA M. 1920 - 2014 Clorinda M. Romero passed away peacefully on July 8, 2014, at the age of 94, in San Leandro, CA. Clorinda was born on February 18, 1920 to the late David and Manuelita Mascarenas and raised in Roy, New Mexico. She graduated from high school and, in her later years, obtained two years of college at UNM with an interest in art. Upon marrying her husband, Frank E. Romero, she moved to Gallup, Santa Fe, and eventually Albuquerque, New Mexico, where they bought a home and raised their family. In 1973, she moved into a smaller home while working for the Office of Federal Personnel Management as a Personnel Staffing Specialist and retired in July 1983. She was successful in real estate and stock market investments. Throughout the years, she could be found gardening in her home devoting herself to her many rose bushes and fruit trees. Clorinda will be remembered for her abundance of energy, generosity, and compassion towards others especially the poor. Her entire life was permeated with volunteerism for many good causes - with the Good Shepherd Auxiliary for Homeless Men, with the Parish Council at Immaculate Conception Church, and with the Catholic Daughters of America, which whom she served as their regent for two terms of office. She loved to travel and visited many countries throughout her lifetime. Clorinda is survived by her son Bob Romero of Miamisburg, Ohio (Marie-deceased); her daughter Sr. Maria Romero, OP, of Monterey, CA; her son Gil Romero, of San Leandro, CA; her five grandchildren Bob, Mark, Tom, Ray, and Louie Romero; three great-grandchildren Abbie, Marie, Keanon, and Jacob; her brother Ernest Mascarenas; and her sister Isabel Aldeis. She was preceded in death by her husband Frank; her sons Anthony and Gilbert Morris; and her brothers Paul, Louis, and Eloy Mascarenas. She was a cherished mother and grandmother who flourished in both roles. She will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her. Christian Services will be held on Saturday, August 2, 2014, at Immaculate Conception Church located at 619 Copper Ave., Albuquerque, and will include a Rosary service at 9:45 am led by the Catholic Daughters of America, and the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Good Shepherd Center, 218 Iron St., SW, Albuquerque, NM.
