CHAVEZ, DEBORAH G. Age 60, of Punta de Agua, NM, passed away at her home on Wednesday, July 16, 2014. Deborah was born October 2, 1953 in Camp Lejaune Marine Corp Base, NC to Don and Mary (McNeil) Welker. She married Andrew Chavez on July 2, 1971 in Belen, NM. They had five children, Gabe, Amber, Grace, Kristyn and Lawren. The family moved to Mountainair in 1981, having previously lived in Los Lunas. She was a member of Life Church in Rio Rancho. Deborah was a very loving and caring wife, mother, sister, daughter, grandma, aunt and friend. Her calling and heart's desire was to teach kids the love of God thru various ministries and churches. One of her other passions in life was loving and caring for dogs although she was kind to all animals. Baking, cooking, gardening, crocheting, sewing, horseback riding, and leather working, were other activities she enjoyed and often shared them with those she loved most. Helping people in need, however she could, was not uncommon for her. Her 11 grandchildren and one great-grand child were always a large part of her life. She was greatly loved by many and will be missed dearly by all who knew her best. Debbie, we will see you soon. Deborah was preceded in death by her grandparents. She is survived by her parents Don and Mary Welker of Elephant Butte; husband Andrew Chavez of Punta de Agua; son Gabe Chavez and his wife Cindy of Punta de Agua; daughters Amber Sena and her husband Mark of Rio Rancho, Grace Ray and her husband JR of Punta de Agua, Kristyn Mauricio and her husband Javier of Punta de Agua and Lawren Chavez of Albuquerque; brother Frank Welker; sister Cheryl Mireles; 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. There will be a viewing from 5:00pm to 8:00pm on Monday, July 21, 2014 at Harris-Hanlon Mortuary in Mountainair, NM. The Funeral Service will be on Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at 10:00AM at the Mountainair Assembly of God Church with Pastors Mark Sena, Doris Jaquis and Shirley Sweat officiating. Pallbearers will be Ezra Sena, Ethan Sena, Ean Sena, Ezekiel Sena, Eli Chavez, and Javier Mauricio. Honorary Pallbearers will be Kale Ray, Nasau Baca, Autumn Baca, Elena Chavez, Elaine Chavez and Elias Chavez. Burial will be at the Chavez Family Cemetery in Punta de Agua.
