GUTIERREZ, FERNANDO FILIMON SR. On Wednesday, May 21, 2014 Fernando Sr. peacefully went home with the Lord surrounded by his loving family. Fernando was born November 17, 1943 to Vigilio and Josefita Gutierrez in Old Chilili, N.M. He was a lifelong resident of Chilili, N.M. where he and his loving, devoted wife Ernestina raised 4 children whom he loved very much. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, the love of his life, Ernestina, his three daughters, Josie Archibeque and husband Ken, Lydia Gutierrez and Ernie Quintero, Denise Moya and husband Manuel, one son, who is a reflection of him, Fernando Gutierrez Jr. and Melissa. His grandchildren who were is pride and joy, Kevin, Durae, Chastity, Isaiah, Kenny Ray, Sabrina, Kassandra, Jaidyn, Angel, Andrea and Destiny. His great grandchildren, Robert, Aria (soon to be born), Nathaniel and Christopher. He is also survived by one sister, Rose and eight brothers, Elias, Gilberto, Orlando, Elfigo, Ernest, Frank Manuel and Ray Sr. Many brother and sister in laws, two aunts and one uncle. He had many nephews, nieces and friends that loved him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vigilio and Josefita and his grandson Fernando Gutierrez III. Fernando proudly served in the U.S. Army and was employed by the Bernalillo County Road Dept. He was a member of Holy Child Catholic parish and the Chilili Land Grant where he was instrumental in preserving and keeping it active. Fernando was one of the first members of the Chilili Rodeo Club which started in 1965. He enjoyed rodeos and his membership never ended even through his illness. Fernando cherished his time with his family, he looked forward to going to the casinos with his sister Rose and brother in law Noe. He always had a good joke to tell and had a sharp mind, nothing got past him. Fernando enjoyed cold mountain weather so that he could fire up the wood stove at home. He will forever be loved and missed. A viewing will be held on Tuesday May 27, 2014 at 6:00 pm at Holy Child Catholic church in Tijeras, N.M., rosary to follow at 7:00 pm. Mass will be held on Wednesday May 28, 2014 10:00 am at San Juan de Nepomuceno church in Chilili, N.M. Interment will take place at the Chilili cemetery after mass.
