JOHNSON, MARTHA JO (JODY) Martha J (Jody) Johnson passed away quietly on November 12, 2013 at the age of 81 at Grand View Care Lodge Assisted Living, in Grand Junction, Colorado. Jody was born in Selfs, Texas, September 26, 1932 to William A. Brown and Betty Mae (Bell) Brown. In 1949 she graduated from Honey Grove High School in Texas with a letter in tennis. In 1950 she moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico, where she worked for a finance company and then for the Atomic Energy Commission (also known as Sandia National Laboratories). There she met and married her husband Sam L. Johnson Sr., December 1951. Jody lived and raised her family in Albuquerque until she was preceded in death by her husband. She is survived by her two sons, Sam L. Johnson Jr. (Grand Junction, CO), and Jonathan Mark Johnson (Phoenix, AZ); daughter-in-law, married to Sam L. Johnson Jr., Cindy Johnson (Grand Junction, CO); and granddaughter Jessica Johnson (Englewood, CO). Jody enjoyed a full life of gardening, golfing, and was an active companion on fishing and hunting trips with her husband and friends. She was a long time reader of history and philosophy. In her words "I have lived a happy and fortunate life" and in our words "We are happy to love her, and that there was time for her to see "Colorful Colorado". There are no services. In lieu of flowers, please donate in her name to Grand View Care Lodge, Grand Junction, CO., for the "vegetable garden" she so dearly enjoyed.
