BROWN, THEODORE FAY (TED) age 72, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, died on the morning of Saturday, September 21, 2013 to be with his family and friends gone before, after a long battle with Acute Leukemia and Multiple Myeloma. We will miss his spirit, sense of humor, intelligence and knack for finding interesting projects; he was happy in that challenge. He was a spiritual and loving man, who was generous and very giving. Ted was introduced to Highway Construction with his father's business, Brown Construction, as a young man. Ted received a Business Degree from Baylor College, and then off to service in the Army. Ted served as a First Lieutenant during the Vietnam War. Upon his return, he left his father's business to start his own. Ted ran his highway and bridge construction company for 44 years here in New Mexico. Ted built many of the roads and bridges you drive on in this state. Ted held Licenses in AZ, CA, CO, NM, NV, TX, UT, for Highway Construction and in NM he held Building, Mechanical, Electrical, Well-drilling, and every type of road or bridge construction license. Ted served as the President of Associated General Contractors just as his father had done. Ted Served on the Board of Directors for Mountain States Insurance for several years. Ted was a religious man, and was a deacon at Hoffmantown Church, which he considered to be one of the highlights of his life. Whenever Ted was asked "what do you do for a living?", he simply replied "I'm a ditch digger". Loving father, he is survived by his two sons, Alan Staehlin and Dave Staehlin; brother, James Brown; and cousin, Walter Brown. He had many cousins, nieces and nephews who loved him dearly. He is preceded in death by his father, Theodore R. Brown; mother, Lucy R. Brown; brother, Charles F. Brown; and sister, Eleanor Rucker.
