CORDOVA, IGNACIO J. "IGGY" Age 92, of Albuquerque, died on Sunday, September 22, 2013. Iggy enlisted as a private in the US Army Air Corps in September 1940. He served five years as a medic in WWII. After the war, he stayed in the reserves and was activated during the Korean Conflict in 1953. In 1954, he joined the NM Air National Guard 188th Fighter Squadron. He was activated during the Vietnam Tet Offensive and served as First Sergeant with the 27th FMS at Cannon AFB, Clovis, NM. In 1981, he retired as a Chief Master Sergeant. To all the great people in the NM Air National Guard, he left this message: "The checks finally came in, and adios a todos mis amigos y amigas." He is survived by his oldest daughter, Carmen Gallegos; friend, Jim Keltgen; his granddaughters, Jeannie Weichbrodt, Elizabeth Carey, Sherry King and husband, Ken, and Crystal Dee; great-grandchildren, Shane Carey, Kyle King, Isis Cuellar, Alejandra Cuellar; sisters, Francis Gardner, Bobbie Garcia, and Margaret Armijo; and many cousins, nephews, nieces, and friends all over the U.S. Iggy was preceded in death by his loving wife, Pauline; parents, Juan and Beatriz Cordova; and daughter, Barbara Jean. A funeral service will be held Monday, September 30, 2013, at 11:00 a.m., at FRENCH - Wyoming.
