ROGERS, RAY J. Age 92, a resident of Elephant Butte, NM, died Friday, October 5, 2012. He was born in Buchanan, NM on July 23, 1920 and was a lifetime resident of New Mexico. He met and married his sweetheart, E. Frances Dick, on May 9, 1947 in Long Beach, CA. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Fran; Dr. Dwight L Rogers and wife Annie of Elephant Butte, Gary D. Rogers and wife Tess, of Albuquerque, Linda R Widener and husband Frank, of Roswell, seven grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. Mr Rogers was preceded in death by his parents James L and Beatrice Sue Rogers and a grandson, Aaron Aday. He was a member of Church at the Butte in Elephant Butte NM and was active in the American Legion Post 44 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1389. Ray served our country during WWII in the US Navy from 1942 to 1947 as an aviator and flight instructor. Ray and Fran both enjoyed square dancing and Ray was a square dance caller for 21 years. He loved to fly and continued flying his own airplane until 2001. Ray enjoyed golfing, boating, camping, and fishing. Services will be held on Wed. October 10, 2012 at 1 pm at Chester T. French Memorial Mausoleum, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE. Entombment will follow at Chester T. French Mausoleum. Friends may visit French-Lomas, Tuesday, October 9th from 4 pm to 6 pm.
