HOLTKAMP, WILLIAM FREDERICK William peacefully passed away on October 2, 2012 at the age of 91. He was born in Goshen, IN to Professor Otto and Mary Holtkamp who made their home in Ohio. His parents, his beloved daughter, Masha Lynn Franklin, and two brothers-in-law preceded Bill in death. Bill is survived by his loving and caring wife, Gene of 65 years; son Jon Alan, of Seattle, WA; two sisters and many nieces and nephews. He graduated from Ohio State University with a degree in Music Education and become a lifetime member of the National Honorary Music Fraternity, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia. Bill served three years in the US Army during WWII in the Signal Corp, then in the US Army Band. His entire life was spent in the music field. Earlier years were spent in public school and private teaching, sales, managing, and performing in several symphony orchestras. Bill's happiest and most rewarding hours were spent as a musical instrument technician. He graduated from the C.G. Conn Musical Instrument Repair School in Elkhart, IN., then he came to Albuquerque to do instrument repair work full-time with Bob Farley Music in 1993 for 15 years. Bill also worked for Luchette Music and Baum's Music when he retired at the age of 80. He enjoyed volunteering for several years as an assistant in the Day Surgery and ER at Kaseman Hospital. Cremation has taken place and Bill has requested no memorial service. A private interment at the Santa Fe National Veteran's Cemetery with military honors will be held on October 10th.
