LEMBO, MARGARET M. "MAGGEE" Age 95, a resident of Albuquerque since 1972, passed away October 1, 2012. She was preceded in death in 1988 by her husband of 35 years, Harold W. Lembo and son Richard Lembo in 1982. Survivors include a daughter, Priscilla Vallone, grandson James and granddaughter Margaret, of Williston Park, NY, and granddaughter Rosanne, her husband Chris Johengen and son Cooper and daughter Lilith of Fairfax, Va.; daughter-in-law Dixie Lembo of Kallispell, MT, granddaughters Susan and Lisa of Madison, WI, grandson Richard Lembo, Jr. of Great Falls, MT. Born in Corinth, MS in 1917 and educated there, she was from early youth a singer and pianist, active in choirs, both singing and accompanying and teaching piano. She received her B.S. degree from the Richmond School of Social Work, College of William and Mary and did graduate work at New York University. Mrs. Lembo had a rewarding professional career of 35 years in the Young Women's Christian Association, first in Richmond, Virginia from 1942 to 1946. Following that she was with the Brooklyn, NY YWCA for 24 years before becoming Executive Director of the Albuquerque YWCA, from which she retired in 1977. Wherever she lived, she always sang in church choirs and choral groups. She was a member of the New Mexico Symphony Orchestra Chorus for 14 years. She and her husband were devoted members of Paradise Hills United Methodist Church, where she also served as accompanist for the children's choir for many years. She was active in the Albuquerque Branch of the American Association of University Women, her particular interests being literature and drama. For the past number of years she has resided at Manzano del Sol Village, where she has been cared for lovingly by many fine friends. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at Paradise Hills United Methodist Church at a date to be announced.
