PENA -- GUADALUPE C. "LUPE" Age 92, passed away Friday, August 24, 2012 at VistaCare in Albuquerque, NM. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM, Tuesday, August 28, 2012 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home, 1001 N. Canal Street, Carlsbad, NM. A Vigil is scheduled for Tuesday, August 28, 2012, 7:00 PM at San Jose Catholic Church, 1002 DeBaca, Carlsbad, NM. Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Wednesday, August 29, 2012, 10:00 AM, at San Jose Catholic Church in Carlsbad, NM with Fr. Cyprian Uline, OFM, Conv. officiating. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Denton-Wood Funeral Home, 575-885-6363, is in charge of the arrangements. Guadalupe C. "Lupe" Pena was born December 12, 1919 in Otis, New Mexico to Demetrio and Cayetana (Chacon) Pena. He was a rancher during his young life. Lupe married Anita Navarrette in 1940 and they soon began their family. He worked for Eddy County from 1954 to 1970, after which he moved to Albuquerque and began working for the Department of Transportation. Lupe retired in 1985. His life wish was to own a small ranch and ride horses. Lupe's wish was granted living in Belen, New Mexico where he enjoyed life. Later he moved back to Albuquerque. Lupe's last desire was to come back home to Carlsbad where he will be laid to rest. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Lupito and several brothers and sisters. Survivors are his wife, Anita Pena of Albuquerque, NM; 14 children: Delma Lopez of Carlsbad, NM, Elizema Pena of Carlsbad, NM, Demetrio Pena and wife, Mary of Tucson, AZ, Samuel Pena of Tucson, AZ, Mary H. Munoz and husband, Adam of Albuquerque, NM, Elva Pena of Albuquerque, NM, Evangelina Navarrette and husband, Guillermo of Albuquerque, NM, Esther Boyd and husband, Jerry Lee of Carlsbad, NM David Pena and wife, Otilia of Albuquerque, NM, Gloria Campos and husband, Sam of Carlsbad, NM, Lorinda Bailey and husband, Frank of Fair Oaks, CA, Lucinda Tafoy and husband, Rick of Albuquerque, NM, Laurie Ann Fluellen and husband, Michael of Albuquerque, NM, Louie Pena and wife, Joyce of Albuquerque, NM; 46 grandchildren; 88 great-grandchildren; 33 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Martin Pena of Lubbock, TX; numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Adam P. Munoz, III, Abel Lopez, David James Pena, Larry Francia, Derek Bruce, Andrew Rocha, Sam Campos and Jessica Munoz.
