DURGIN -- EILENE C. Age 64, was born September 24, 1947 and passed away Sunday, June 10, 2012. Eilene was a 6th generation New Mexican and grew up in Los Alamos, where she worked as a columnist for her high school newspaper. She pursued her passion for language, studied French, and attended the University of New Mexico, where she studied Linguistics. She was intelligent and creative in all of her pursuits, including her working life with CDC and BDM and her time owning and operating a small business, Martha Weems Southwest. She was a small lady with a big heart and the most gentle blue eyes. Her loving spirit touched many. Eilene was a humanitarian, who gave to several charities and often opened her home to strangers. She was the matriarch of this family and held everyone together. Every Christmas she would make her famous fudge, chocolate candies, and cheese logs with her daughters, granddaughters, and close friends. She found the unique goodness and beauty in each person and valued them for their individuality. Eilene was deeply loved by her friends and family, and she will be missed. She will be remembered as a loving wife, a loving mother to seven children, a true friend, and for her sharp wit and infectious sense of humor. She is survived by husband of 34 years, Dave Durgin; children, Lewie Chandler Wickham, Erica Allison Briscoe and husband, Gary; stepchildren Dana Lynn MacMillan and husband, James, Dianne Sloop and husband, Steve, Trish Roscoe and husband, Ben; grandchildren Rachel Marie Prewitt, Jesse Kelly Prewitt, Brianna Noel Wickham, and Tre David Roscoe; brothers Robert Chandler Prewitt and wife, Susan, and Michael Shay Prewitt; and her father's and mother's extended families. She was predeceased by her cherished father, Robert Chandler Prewitt, and her two sisters, Mary Elizabeth Prewitt and Patricia Webb. Cremation has taken place, and a private remembrance gathering will be held. Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to Roadrunner Food Bank, 5840 Office Boulevard Northeast Albuquerque, NM 87109 or UNM Children's Hospital, Two Woodward Center, 700 Lomas Blvd. NE, Albuquerque, NM 87102.
