PEGRUM -- VIRGINIA JULIA Age 93 and a longtime resident of Rio Rancho, NM, passed away Friday, June 8, 2012. She was born on May 10, 1919 in New York City to Stash and Mary (Kwasnica) Paskie. She was raised in Texas and returned to New York in her teenage years. In 1943 and during WWII, Virginia enlisted in the Womens Army Corp (W.A.C) and served in Georgia, Texas and Louisiana. Returning to her civilian life in New York, she and her husband, Bill, moved to Northport, Long Island on the Long Island Sound. She worked as a telephone operator in New York City. Virginia and Bill moved to Rio Rancho, NM in 1982. She served as the secretary of the New York Club of Rio Rancho. Virginia began volunteering with St. Joseph's (now Lovelace Westside Medical Center) Auxiliary in 1988. She was named the Service Director who oversaw luncheons and fashion shows. She considered it to be an honor to have been a volunteer. Her wonderful attitude will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bill, in 2001. A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, June 16, 2012 at 11:00 AM at the Rose Garden in Vista Verde Memorial Park, 4310 Sara Road SE, Rio Rancho.
