CRAIG -- ORAN W. Was born December 16, 1913, in Mitchellville, Iowa and passed away April 28, 2012 at age 98 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Oran attended Mitchellville High School and Iowa State University. It was while he was attending Iowa State that he met his wife, Ruth Mitchell. They eloped in 1935 and were married 52 years until Ruth passed away in 1988. Oran served in the United States Army during World War II and fought in Italy and North Africa. The family moved to Albuquerque in 1962 where he worked as an accountant at Richardson Ford until he retired in 1979. Oran enjoyed wood working and spent many hours in his home workshop on beautiful projects, which he gave to family and friends. Oran was well known for his sense of humor and gentle disposition. He was always ready with a witty response (usually the same one each time) to any question. Oran was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth and daughter, Linda. He is survived by sons, Thomas and his wife Diane and William Craig; granddaughters, Shari Rantanen and Dana Duran; grandchildren, Justin Craig, Nicole Allcorn, Breanne Craig, Kevin Craig; and great-grandsons, Kyle and Cody Rantanen. The family would like to give a special thanks to all the folks at Brookdale of Albuquerque and Hospice de la Luz who cared for Oran for the last five years. They are very special people and they made a difficult time bearable. Services will be conducted on May 8th, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Daniels Family Funeral Services, 7601 Wyoming Blvd. NE. Interment will follow at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe at 1:30 p.m. Pallbearers are Justin Craig, Kyle Rantanen, Cody Rantanen, Jordan Allcorn, Mark Savage, and Mike Barnes.
