GATES -- ELIZABETH "LIZ" Passed away February 24, 2012. She was born to Archie and Clara Dionne in Worcester, MA on February 5, 1923. She married Richard Gates, Sr. May 16, 1943. She and Dick moved to Albuquerque in the late 40's to raise their four children. Liz was a homemaker as well as a saleslady at Woolworths and Dillards. She loved dancing and listening to Frank Sinatra. She also loved trips to Las Vegas, NV with Dick and their many friends. She had a special friendship with their neighbors and friends Jean and Tom Garcia, Esther and Andy Sanchez, Ted and Edna Niforos, and Sue and Frank Sacco. She was preceded in death by her husband Dick Gates; her son, Rick Gates; her sister Edie Fancy; and her brothers-in-law Bob Gates and Ned Gattas. She is survived by her daughter Betty Doxey; her son Jim Gates (Margaret); her daughter Pearly Gates; her brothers Archie and Ernie Dionne and their families; her grandchildren Angie Crosby (George), Sandi Hamilton (Daniel), Kim Blea (JJ), Richard Doxey, Meghan Gates, Becky Gates (Eric), Charlie Gates (Jody); Julie Huerta (Mark) and CJ Vanderlip; her daughters-in-law Lynn Gates and Virginia Lenberg (Greg); her sister-in-law Adele Gattas; 14 greatgrandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. We would like to thank Liz's neighbors Claudia and Tom Moppert and their daughters who so lovingly visited Liz weekly and provided many hours of fun and relaxation for her.
