HAMPTON -- MARY NEWELL Age 85, long-time resident of Los Alamos, NM, and recent resident of Albuquerque, NM, passed away in Albuquerque on January 8, 2012, surrounded by her family. Mary was born on October 25, 1926, and was raised in Palisade, Colorado. She graduated from Palisade High School in 1944 and attended Mesa Jr. College in Grand Junction, Colorado. In 1947, Mary married Wade Hampton, also from Palisade, they had four children. In 1953 she moved with her husband Wade, and the children to Los Alamos, New Mexico where they lived until 2008. During her years in Los Alamos, Mary worked for the Motor Vehicle Dept., the County Extension Office, and finally she retired after many years as the manager of the Los Alamos Schools food service program. Mary had a strong commitment to her family and their welfare and success. She will be missed by all those whom she treasured and loved. She is survived by her four children: daughter Karen Hampton and partner Kathy Ulrich of Albuquerque, NM; son Gary Hampton and wife Patty of Los Alamos, NM; daughter Rexanne Barrera and husband Ray of Albuquerque, NM; daughter Diana Wilson and husband Mark of Livonia, Michigan; and granddaughter Jessica Wilson also of Livonia, Michigan; grandson, Brice Espinoza and wife Natalie, of Houston, Texas; and two great-grandchildren Jacob Dalton and Gentry Mae also of Houston, Texas.
