ROTH -- MARION ALBERTA Passed away peacefully at home on Dec. 29, 2011 after a long and courageous battle with breast cancer. Born on Aug. 15, 1948 in Tyngsboro, MA, the oldest of six children. Graduated from Lowell High School in 1966 and then moved to Tucson, AZ, with her family in 1966 where she met and married her husband Emanuel Peter Roth in 1969. They moved to Seattle, WA, in 1970 while her husband attended the Univ. of Washington and then on to Champaign-Urbana, IL, where he attended grad school. They had two children born in Illinois, Emanuel Paul Roth (1974) and Christine Marie Roth (1977). Moved to Albuquerque in 1978 where her husband joined Sandia National Labs. She stayed home with the children while they were young and later worked in retail at Foley's Dept. store and then for 15 years at Respond First Aid Systems as a warehouse manager. Marion was very active in school programs and functions when the children were young and then was very involved with church activities at Covenant United Methodist Church. She and her husband were Sunday school teachers and youth leaders over several years, taking the youth on summer mission trips to several locations throughout the US. She was responsible for several years for fund raising activities for the youth and youth functions such as Vacation Bible School and Christmas pageants. Her spirit and enthusiasm brought a special life and joy to everyone. Marion was also very active in church choir, with a beautiful voice and often sang duets with friends during service. Marion loved the outdoors, camping and hiking with her family throughout the southwest. She also loved to travel, planning and going on several trips with her husband and family throughout the world. This last year she was able to plan and go on two trips to Hawaii and a trip to Germany. Marion was mostly known for her love and compassion for everyone she met. There has never been a kinder soul or more caring person. She was "best friend" for many people and will be greatly missed in their lives and the life of her family. She was truly the heart and soul of her family. Words cannot express how much she will be missed. Marion is survived by her husband of 42 years, Pete Roth of Albuquerque; their daughter, Christy Carter, son-in-law, Joseph Carter, and granddaughter, Charlotte Carter (age 10 months) of Alamogordo. She was preceded in death by son Emanuel Paul Roth in 2006 and parents Earl Davis (2007) and Marion Davis (2011). She is also survived by sister Ruby Davis; brother Earl Davis of Maine; sister Pauline Degler of Ohio; sister Cindy Kindley; and brother Howard Davis of Alabama. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Covenant United Methodist Church, 8510 Wyoming Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM 87113, where they will be designated in support of the youth program. Services will be held Saturday, January 7, 2012, 2:00 p.m., at Covenant UMC, 8510 Wyoming Blvd NE, Albuquerque.
