LOCKWOOD -- JO ANN Age 70, went to join her husband in the presence of the Lord on Friday, November 25, 2011. Jo Ann is survived by her mother and step-father, Billie and Bill Snowden, of Corpus Christi, TX; three sons, Sam III (wife Sheryn), Scott (wife Tara), and Shawn (wife Kristin); six grandchildren, Shayna D'Egidio (husband Tony), Sam IV (wife Eden), Sydne, Moriah, Kassie and Kylan; and one great-grandchild, Sam V. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sam Jr; father, Allison Mayfield; and brother, Allison Mayfield, Jr. Jo Ann was born in Texas, where she met and married Sam Jr, "the love of her life", in 1959. They moved around Texas for several years, then settled in Albuquerque in 1975. Jo Ann worked as a legal secretary for many years and was well respected in the legal community. She was proud to have spear-headed a movement to have the city build a park (Ross Enchanted Park) by their home. That experience would come in handy later when Jo Ann and Sam bought a small cabin the Sangre de Cristos Mountains and Jo Ann helped to organize and develop the Cabo Lucero Fire Department. After Jo Ann was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2008 she fulfilled her lifelong dream of a visit to Alaska, smiling and excited every step of the way! Jo Ann's greatest joys in life were her husband, their children, reading, exploring the back roads of NM, their cabin in the mountains, a cold glass of wine, and "gettin' into trouble" with the grandkids. Services will be held on Tuesday November 29 at 4:00 pm at St Paul's United Methodist Church, 9500 Constitution Avenue, Albuquerque. In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to St Paul's UMC.
