ARANDA -- HENRY Age 81, was born on February 20, 1930 in Las Vegas, NM to Roman and Eloisa Aranda. Henry was accompanied by our Lord Jesus Christ through the gates of Heaven on September 27, 2011 with his daughters, Terry and Lorraine by his side. Henry met and married the love of his life, his wife of nearly 62 years, Irene Geoffrion Aranda. Henry was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Virginia Demmel and Pita Jones; brother, Charles Aranda; his father and mother-in-law, Alfred and Melecia Geoffrion; sister-in-law, Pita Williams; brother-in-law, Louis Geoffrion; son-in-law, Lee Martinez. Henry and Irene built their home together in Santa Fe in 1961 where they raised 6 children, Teresa Martinez (Armando), Henry D. Aranda, (Maria), Richard Aranda, John Aranda, Lorraine Aranda Salazar (Mark) and James Aranda. Henry was a devoted and loving grandfather to Tanya Aranda, Richard Martinez (Rowan), Dianna Best (Carlo), Stephanie Macias (Jeremy), Michael Aranda, Andrew and William Aranda, Alysha D'Amour (Leo), Lauren and Isaiah Salazar and Raymond Baca, and great-grandfather to Haley and Nathaniel Best. Henry is also survived by his sisters, Florinda Grubesic and Betty Sweeney ( James) of Albuquerque, and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Henry will be remembered for his humor, and the love he had as a husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, brother and friend. Henry cherished time with his family, watching Lauren play softball, spending time at the casino, and watching the Dallas Cowboys. Henry served in the United States Army as a Sargent during WWII. He was a 1st Lieutenant in the New Mexico National Guard when the guard was activated during the Korean Conflict. Henry was employed by the Los Alamos National Laboratories where he retired after 37 years of service. Henry coached little league baseball in Los Alamos and Santa Fe for many years, and he made a lasting impression on many of his players. After retiring from the labs Henry worked at the Carousel at the SF Place Mall and was a volunteer calling Bingo at various senior centers. Private family viewing will take place on Sunday, October 2, 2011 from 1:00-3:00 at Berardinelli's Funeral Home. A Rosary will be recited on Monday, October 3, 2011 at 12:00 at Santa Maria de la Paz Catholic Community Church, 11 College Avenue, followed immediately by a Mass at 12:30 p.m. with interment at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 2:15, Santa Fe, NM. Henry will be deeply missed by the numerous friends he made at Camel Rock Casino where he loved to spend his days playing his special machine. A sincere thank you to Father Adam Ortega for his support to Henry and his family during this difficult time, Dr. Seredowych, Dr. Vivian Lee and the nursing staff at Christus St. Vincent for the excellent care they provided to our beloved father during his illness.
