MARTINEZ -- Alejandro "Alex" L. Martinez, age 81, long-time resident of Santa Fe, passed away peacefully at home on May 23, 2011. He is survived by his loving wife of fifty-three years, Ramona; his six children, Alex, Leroy, Yvonne, Karen, Sharon and Fred; his five grandchildren Teesha, Lia, Lucas, David and Jonathan; one great-grandchild, Carter and two siblings Horacio and Mary. After retiring from the New Mexico Human Services Department in 1991 as a chief accountant, he volunteered his services in many ways. He was the treasurer for the Holy Name at St. Johns Catholic Church for many years, and served as a Trustee for the VFW. We will all remember for his smile, his jokes and the way he always brought a laugh to those that knew him. Funeral arrangements start with a viewing on Friday May 27, 2011 at 6:30 p.m.; a Rosary at 7:00 p.m.; a funeral mass on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. and a reception for family and friends following the mass. These will all be held at St. Anne Catholic Church at 511 Alicia Street, Santa Fe. His burial service is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. on Saturday at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.
