CHAVEZ -- Frank O. Chavez, 92 of Albuquerque, NM died Monday, April 25, 2011 at the V.A. Medical Center in Albuquerque following an illness. He was born May 11, 1918 in Puerto De Luna, NM to the home of Cisto Ramirez Chavez and the former Rosa Ortega. Frank attended school in Puerto De Luna and Santa Rosa, NM. He owned and operated Frank's Boot and Shoe repair in Albuquerque from 1955-1968. He worked many years for Simon's Department Store until his retirement. He married Jessie Olivas Chavez on September 9, 1947 in Santa Rosa. He is a veteran of World War II and served from 1942-1945, a longtime member of Queen of Heaven Catholic Church in Albuquerque, and a member of American Legion Post 99 in Albuquerque. Frank was preceded in death by his wife Jessie O. Chavez on November 18, 2006; a brother Alfredo Chavez in 1997; and his parents. He is survived by a daughter Lucille N. Chavez; a son Steve J. Chavez; granddaughter Chrishele Gomez; sister Louisa Duran, all of Albuquerque. Also surviving are many relatives and friends. Rosary services will be held at 10:30 AM Monday, May 2, 2011 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Santa Rosa, NM. Mass will follow the Rosary at 11:00 a.m. with burial at St. Joseph Cemetery.
