SHOEMAKER -- Babe Alta Logan Shoemaker of Albuquerque, NM passed away January 17, 2011. She was born March 8, 1912 in Boise, ID. Alta and her husband, Ivan "Dee" Shoemaker, owned and operated the El Camino Lodge on 4th Street for many years. She was a member of the American Women's Business Association and had previously worked in the Accounting Department at Dillard's. She was an avid bowler and many bowlers credited her with improving their games. She believed that man's nature was good because she herself had a heart of gold and she reached out to help friends and strangers alike. She was always encouraging and had a loving sense of humor. She passed through this life with generosity and thoughtfulness. She was preceded in death by her husband, "Dee" and daughter, Dolores June. As she wished, Alta was cremated and her ashes scattered over her beloved Sandias, which overlook the city she treasured, in the State that nourished and sustained her.
