CASAUS -- Victor M. Casaus, 81, of Albuquerque, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Sunday, February 13, 2011. Victor was born on June 29, 1929 in Santa Rosa, New Mexico to Carlos M. Casaus and Isabel Gallegos Casaus. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Maida Lopez Casaus; son, Michael Casaus and wife, Wendie; daughter, Donna Lanigan and husband, Michael; four granddaughters, Dana Casaus and husband, David Ivey, Lauren Casaus Brinkama and husband, Moritz, Kendall Lanigan and husband, John Montoya, and Caitlin Lanigan; and great-granddaughter, Elyse Ivey. Victor retired after 25 years of service with the federal government. A man of many interests and talents, he became an accomplished and prolific Santero and wood carver. Inspired by his deep faith, many churches, synagogues, and shrines are graced by his works. A light that burned very brightly, Victor's unusual passion for life will always be a precious gift for all of us who love him so dearly. Friends may visit French ~ Wyoming Chapel Tuesday, February 15, 2011, at 6:00 p.m. and a Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, February 16, 2011, 10:00 a.m., at Risen Savior Catholic Community, 7701 Wyoming Blvd. NE. Entombment will follow at Gate of Heaven Mausoleum. Pallbearers will be Michael Lanigan, John Montoya, Moritz Brinkama, David Ivey, Gilbert Bustamante, Robert Barela, Fred Sanchez, and Steve Casaus.
