RODGERS -- Marcy Rodgers. It was December 30, 1929 when Marcella (Marcy) Rice came into this world and said, "Hello" to her parents, Joseph (Toy) and Gertrude Rice. Marcy passed away suddenly on February 4, 2011 in Paonia, CO. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother, Donald Rice. Marcy is survived by her husband, Alfred S. (Governor) Rodgers of Paonia, CO; sister Betty Sieglitz and husband Joe of Albuquerque, NM; three children, Ron Rodgers and wife Barbara of Issaquah, WA, Rick Rodgers and friend Debbie of Fallbrook, CA, Randy Rodgers and wife Janice of Grand Junction, CO; grandsons, Randy Ed and wife Audra and Dillon Rodgers and wife Tina of Grand Junction, CO; granddaughters, Michelle Long and husband Jason of Keizer, OR and Jeanelle Vinson and husband Luke of Hillsborro, Or; nine great-grandchildren, Taylor, Madison, Kamryn, Ashton, Brenden, Chase, Wallis, Rachael and Izzy; sisters-in-law, Dola Clark of Colorado Springs, CO, Rita Kerr and Jane Mechenbier of Albuquerque, NM; and brother-in-law Robert Rodgers and wife Charlene of Albuquerque, NM; and many nieces and nephews. Marcy attended University Heights Elementary School and Albuquerque High School. She met her husband, Governor at Tingley Beach and it was "love at first sight". They married soon afterwards and were to have celebrated 65 years come this St. Patrick's Day. She will be remembered as fun loving and excited to share good times with her loved ones and friends. Marcy relished Spanish Food (New Mexico style), playing cards from sunup to sundown, challenging her opponents to a good game of tennis, and trying out new recipes for her husband and family. She had a special place in her heart for her adoring pets, KoKo, Hooter, Menace and Blackjack and will long be remembered for her love of a good joke, and her special brand of generosity and caring. Mary enjoyed exploring new places. She and Governor traveled many places at home and abroad. Albuquerque was "always" home, bur for the past 17 years, they resided in Paonia, CO. Her home in Paonia was one of her special delights. She enjoyed taking photographs and it was not unusual to receive a stunning picture of her beloved surroundings. She always joked with her "city friends" about the quietness of her early mornings, the smell of the meadow, with its freshly cut hay, the beautiful, changing mountains which lay at her doorstep, the brilliant, silent stars shining down in the evenings and the peace and tranquility of her country home. We salute her for a life well lived. She will remain in our heats and be a part of our lives forever.
