HARRIS -- Michael Thomas Harris, 61, passed away Thursday, February 3, 2011 in Albuquerque, NM. He died peacefully at home, surrounded by family. Michael was born April 19, 1949 in Seattle, WA. He is preceded in death by his parents, Judd and Nita Harris. He is survived by his wife, Sandy Harris; daughters, Sarrah Dorr, Charlotte Ortiz and husband, Paul; granddaughters, Sandra and Samantha Dorr; sister, Kris Pilling; brothers, Craig Harris and wife, Lucia, Scott Harris and wife, Deedee, Steve Harris and wife, Gina. Michael was President of BMC Roofing, a member of EAGA, and the Albuquerque Boat Club. He was a past president of the Evening Optimist Club of Albuquerque. Michael held the rank of Eagle Scout and served in the Marine ROTC at UNM. He was an avid athlete, involved in a variety of sports. He held a pilots license and spent much of his recreational time on his boat, the "Kokopelli" at Elephant Butte. He was a patriot, a fantastic husband and father, beloved friend to many. The family requests that donations be sent to the Evening Optimist Club of Albuquerque, at 4737 Danube NE, 87111. Visitation will be held Saturday, February 12, 2011 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., Services will following at 2:00 p.m., at Daniels Family Funeral Services, Wyoming Chapel.
