CHAVEZ -- George J. Chavez. 1934-2011. George J. Chavez, age 76, a resident of Belen, NM, passed away on Thursday, January 27, 2011. He was a member of Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church. George enjoyed spending time with family, carpentry and raising animals and exotic birds on his place in Belen. His main love was his wife and family. George was preceded in death by his parents, Silvano and Josephine Chavez; four brothers, Pete, Benny, Clemente and Silvano Jr. and three sisters, Merlinda, Peggy and Joann. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Esther Chavez; four sons, George Jr. and his wife, Kim, Benny and his wife Rowena, and Ralph and Carl; 14 grandchildren, Brian and his wife, Anna, Michelle, Abe and Pam, Vincent and his wife Melissa, Eileen Sanchez and her husband Daniel, Jacob and his wife Haley, Raymond and Monica, Carl and Angelica, Randy and his wife Tracy, Chris, Amanda Romero and her husband Matthew, Daniel and David; 17great-grandchildren; sister, Della Chavez; brother, Benton Chavez and his wife Mona; special neighbors David and Dawn Vigil; many loving family and friends and two special Doctors, Dr. Andrea Weiss and Dr. Larry Osborn. A celebration of George's life will be held on Friday, February 4, 2011 at 3:00 PM at the Noblin Funeral Service Belen Chapel,. 418 W Reinken Ave. with Pastor Ignacio Chavez officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 2:00 PM with reception to follow in the funeral homes reception room. Interment will take place at a later date. Honorary pallbearers will be George's grandchildren.
